How long does red cabbage last in the fridge?

Before you slice into it, red cabbage will stay fresh in the crisper drawer for about 2-3 weeks. After you shred or slice it, the cabbage will only stay fresh for another 2-3 days.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 head of red cabbage
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce

Instructions

  • Slice onion and red cabbage.

  • Melt butter or margarine in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.

  • Add onion to the pan and sauté for 5 minutes stirring occasionally.

  • Add red cabbage and garlic.

  • Cover and reduce the heat to medium. Cook for 15 minutes, continuing to stir occasionally.

  • Add sugar, salt, pepper, cumin and Worcestershire sauce.

  • Cook for an additional 10 minutes. Serve hot as a side dish with your favorite meal.
